Our First Expedition at Cardigan

When we arrived at Cardigan on the bus for the first time, to start our field trip off, everyone played some introduction games with the counselors and got to unpack their suitcases in the bunkrooms so they could get ready for the day. Once everyone was dressed, ready and all split into groups, we were able to start the hikes. The group I was in went to Welton Falls, a really cool river/waterfall, for day 1. On our hike we learned a lot about new plants and mushrooms and did some activities that included learning more about nature. We also got to explore Welton Falls once we arrived, which was really fun. Finally after a long day of hiking, everyone was able to shower and hang out at the lodge until dinner time. Once dinner was over, we all played a game outside in the dark and listened to a bedtime story before we all retreated to our bunk rooms to go to bed. All in all, it was a good first day at Cardigan and I learned a lot more about the people in my group and about nature.

Movement
On the first day, we encountered one of the five themes of geography. We found an apple tree, which out of the five themes, is movement. It is movement because apple trees are not originally from America. They actually came from Asia. So it was pretty cool that we got to see in front of our eyes, a form of movement. Some other examples include, us moving to and from Cardigan, beech trees, the name "Cardigan", and even the recipes for the dinner we had that night.

Overall, we had a great time on the three days we were at Cardigan. (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.)
